Lesson 3: Wormwood and Knotgrass

       Wormwood is a rather intriguing plant to end this unit with. The plant, as show above, can change colors on instincts and will to protect themselves from being pruned or cut down. Their leaves are extremely flexible when relaxed, but usually become stiff and brittle when on defense. The plant is a herb and can be eaten raw and directly off its stems. However, it can threaten your stomach if you eat a great deal or eat any part of the stem. It grows naturally on uncultivated, arid ground, on rocky slopes, and at the edge of footpaths and fields. The plant's leaves are very bitter. The plant is actually a sign of bitterness because of its leaves and changing color.

       Wormwood, as mentioned above, can be eaten raw and unprepared. It helps work to cure sicknesses and other illnesses. The plant is also used in the Draught of the Living Dead and is one of the key ingredients in the potion.

Wormwood is a well known plant in the muggle world, as well. Muggles use it in many medications and it can be smoked as well.

       Knotgrass is a very magical plant in its own right. Just touching the leaf of knotgrass could heal up a cut and bring the skin back with in two or three hours. The plant's roots are also very magical. Cut up, they can be used in Polyjuice Potion.

The knotgrass comes from a wide and large plant family. It grows in muddy, yet rock terrain. Most herbologists mix the soil with rocks to achieve this affect.

This plant, past its immense magical holdings, is rather boring actually. Yeah.

       Knotgrass, as mentioned above, can be used for only a short amount of things. However, they are immense "things" really. The roots are used in Polyjuice Potion and the leaves help cure sicknesses and illnesses.

The plant was once eaten by a young muggle girl. It left her both blind and unable to speak. She went on to be a muggle hero.
