It is important you focus and take notes while in the course. If you are interested, and would like to take this course concurrently with another course, you can notify me and I will see that it happens.

Assignment Categories

In this course you there will be three basic assignment categories. The categories are as follows:

  • Missions (20%)

  • Classwork [Class Participation] (20%)

  • Project (20%)

  • Tests/Quizzes (40%)

You will notice that I put a big point value behind tests. They are the most important work you will do in this class, alongside the Term Project. Your term project is an ongoing commitment that can get you major points!

Classroom Policies & Standards

Attendance: Each student is responsible for his or her own class attendance, and regular attendance is expected. A grade will be given for each lesson, which goes toward the Classwork component of your grade. Basicallly, if you post more than four times in a lesson & more than five times in a mission, you will be seen as attending class and successfully completeing the lesson. To make it easier, entrances and exits do count. Posts should be of decent length. One-liners WILL negatively affect your grade!

Collection of Work: Work is accepted all the way up until March 14th. Quizzes are accepted all the way up until the lesson for each ends.

Homework : Homework, for this course, is completely optional. If you want some extra credit, you can do the homework. The honors option still existas for those who really want to do the work. All homework and assignment may be e'Owled or PM'ed to me. The subject of the message should be your name and what you are turning in. Each activity contains a default header for you to put in the body of the PM with other basic information. Please do NOT send me anything any other way unless I have requested such. If you do, you will get a zero for the work.

Engrade: This will be your only means of finding your grade. You can PM me with grade requests, but I will suggest you check Engrade. Engrade will allow you to see why you got such a grade and then you can ask me if you have any questions. More information about the system will be posted at the start of the term.

Autoassign: This will be your only means of completing quizzes and tests. Autoassign allows me to open and close the assessments with ease and they are automatically graded. More information about the system will be posted at the start of the term.

Quills: Students who complete the course successfully will be awarded one quill at the end of the term. However, students who complete the course successfully and also work on the Honors portion of the course activities, they will be awarded two quills at the end of the term.

Honors Portion: Every unit consists of one honors activity. If students complete each Honors question, they are eligible for two quills. If you would like to participate in this, you need to PM me and let me know before the first lesson.

Academic Integrity: I expect academic honest of all of my students. Academic honesty applies to all situations, including completing all tests without unauthorized assistance and providing accurate information on school documents. If I find you doing such, you will be kicked out and reported to the Governors.

Classroom Conduct: You will be required to role-play within the classroom during the lessons. You will be given a task and you will need to follow all of the directions to get the role-play credit of that lesson. Usually, the directions will require you to post a certain amount of times or do certain things.

Assignments: All assignments have published due dates. It is the student's responsibility to complete those assignments and turn them in on time. Please see the late work policy if you have questions on that.

Dropping the course: If you find yourself in need to drop the course, please drop me a PM so I can drop you from my office, gradebook, and other areas. If you fail to notify me and fall behind, you will fail and not recieve a quill.

Herbologist Journals: You will be required to write and document within your Herbologist Journals. This is the main component of your term project.

Missions: These will be your RP classwork assignments once we get to the lessons that deal with more hands-on with plants.

Grading

I have chosen to use the official O.W.L. & N.E.W.T. testing scale for the class. This is so students become familiar with the scores and the grades.

  • O (90-100%)

  • E (80-89%)

  • A(70-79%)

  • P (60-69%)

  • D (50-59%)

  • T (0-49%)

Receiving a Quill

In order to receive a quill in this course you must get at least a 70% average, or an “A”, over the entire term.

Dropping the Course

To drop this course at any time, simply PM or e-owl me and ask to drop this course. If you have not completed one assignment by the time I give the mid-term test you will be dropped from the class and points deducted accordingly.
